Our Trip to the Pumpkin Patch + Fall Activities ideas

October is here and we’re doing all things Fall! When I was younger, I don’t recall going to a Pumpkin Patch, but I do remember going apple picking once and having a lot of fun. As always, I love trying to find family traditions and new things to do with Ryann so going pumpkin picking was definitely one of them. I planned to go to a farm in Virginia however, my cousins were going the same weekend we were in Jersey, so I decided to take Ryann with family. Of course, in real blogger/extra gals’ fashion, we went to the mall and got our girls matching outfits and planned a trip to the Johnson Corner Farm.

We arrived a little after 4:30pm and since my cousin goes to this one every year, she knew exactly where we needed to go to buy Hayride tickets. The farm was free to get in and the tickets were only $5 apiece. (Children under 12 months are free) After buying our tickets, using the bathroom, and getting ready to get in line, we waited for the next Hayride. We saw a few tractors ride by and was so confused because we were the only ones in line. Eventually a lady walked over and told us that we were too late, and the last ride was about 15 minutes ago. We were a little upset because we didn’t understand why they would sell us tickets but, since everything else was still open until 7pm we went to explore other things.

  • Tip: If you are planning to go to any Pumpkin Patch and would like to pick pumpkins and apples, your best bet is to arrive before 4pm. (I called another place before going and was told they stopped at 4pm so I’m assuming most farms are the same)

We let the girls pick out their pumpkins, get on a tractor, visited the gift shop and of course we bought Apple Cider Donuts and a frozen apple cider drink. I honestly think the amount of time we spent there was perfect because it started to get colder, I’m not sure how being out in the field with Ryann would have been.

Enjoy some pictures from our trip to the Pumpkin Patch!

Free/Cheap Fall Activities

Carve/Decorate Pumpkins

Pumpkins aren’t expensive so grabbing a few (or one lol) and decorating them would be really cute/fun. (I may wait to do this with Ryann when she’s a little older but we shall see)

Make hot Apple Cider

Especially after yesterday! That frozen drink and those donuts were so good I want all things apple cider. Lol! I plan to find a recipe and try to make some with Ryann and hopefully Joel will join us.

Fall Decorating

Even though this probably won’t be as fun for Ryann (or Joel lol) I definitely plan to start sharing more of my home decorations (follow my home inspo page here). I want to start with fall pieces and a the budget!

Scary Movie Night

Spend a night with popcorn, hot chocolate (or alcoholic beverages with you’re anything like me and my husband haha), and watch movies! This will be an activity for my husband and I once Ryann is asleep. Lol!

Make a Pumpkin Dish

I really want to try this chili that I got from Fruitive but I know it won’t be as good. Lol! But, I think it’s only right to make dessert or dinner using a pumpkins recipe. (If it comes out like something maybe I’ll share it on the blog)

Anywho! I just wanted to share a few things I had in mind but would love for you all to share what you plan to do this Fall! Comment and share below.

Until next time,
