Intimacy After Baby

So, we’re all adults, right? Some of us married, some in serious relationships, but this specific post is for new parents. So, what do we all have in common? NEW BABIES! And how do babies get here? SEX! And it is okay to say it. In fact, it is necessary AFTER we have babies. Finding intimacy with our significant others after having a baby can be difficult. Some of us (myself included) are so worried about the baby, that we forget about our partner. Lol! Something we must remember is WE (the parents) MATTER TOO! But, how? When you have this tiny, cute, baby girl/boy that you want to give all the hugs and kisses to. YOU FIND THE TIME.

5 ways to get alone time with your partner after having a baby:

  1. If you already have a routine scheduled bedtime for your baby, once he/she is asleep, stay up a little later with your partner and spend some time together.
  2. Take advantage when family/friends come into town. Let them keep the baby for a few hours and go out and have some fun with your significant other.
  3. Take a “sick” or personal day from work – and don’t feel bad about it! Let baby stay in school/with the babysitter and spend the whole day with your partner.
  4. Instead of taking lunch to work, meet for lunch OR simply meet them at home for lunch.
  5. DO NOT FEEL GUILTY! Your baby is okay! He/she gets your loving 24/7 and it’s enough to share with your partner. In fact, you NEED to share the love with them.

We as women, as wives, as mothers, NEED this time especially because of all the changes our bodies go through after giving birth. Ryann is almost 6 months and I still have not completely grasp the fact that, my body is not the same. And let’s face it, it’s not.  I still have days when I don’t feel “sexy” enough. Reasons why I absolutely LOVE this bra from the Dairy Fairy! I can be sexy for my husband while also prepared to feed or pump for my baby!

Lastly, I wanted to share something I did for Valentine’s Day. I wrote date night ideas on popsicle sticks for Joel and me. Some examples include: Putting your phone away and spending time with your partner, $10 date, mini road trip, and a bunch of other things. I left a note that said “In 2019, let’s date more, love harder, and try not to have another baby yet. We have to pick 3 sticks a month and #justdoit”. I thought this would be a way for us to have definite date nights planned each month while also not having to worry about finding something to do.

So, the one thing I want you to take away from this post is to understand that although it’s hard to find the time with your significant other, after having a baby, FIND IT. It is important and necessary.

Great post love. Mason and I did the popsical idea during our first year of marriage. We also use the family/friend card a lot while we are visiting family. It is so important to make time for each other. Because a happy relationship means a happy baby.
    Love,
