During my pregnancy I spent a lot of time on Pinterest trying to find all the “cool” pregnancy things to do. I came across a lot of women talking about their pregnancy journals. I was a little iffy about getting one at first because of my history of trying to keep a journal. I just can’t stick to writing faithfully. Thoughts come to me at the most random times so I usually just use the notes app in my phone since it’s a lot more accessible. Anywho, I completely changed my mind after I saw so many creative ideas. I started looking at different pregnancy journals on Amazon and came across one by PearHead Inc. I loved it and order it immediately!
A couple months into my pregnancy and what do you think happened? I was updating it faithfully… for about 3 months. Month 5 came and I finally remembered to update it again. But of course, the next time I thought about my journal I was already 8 months pregnant. (Some things never change haha) I forced myself to find pictures I had taken of my belly, went to CVS to print them out, filled in the sections I missed, and BOOM! You would’ve thought I was writing daily. Lol!
Sidebar: The journal I have is BOMB! There’s different questions to fill out about how your body feel as your pregnancy progress, what you do/don’t like to eat, what makes you feel sick, baby name ideas, baby shower plans, AND it even goes until after you have the baby. It has slots to save ultrasound pictures, pictures of the baby’s room, your labor/birth story, basically every cool thing you would want documented.
The reason I wanted to share my pregnancy journal experience is because of how much I learned and was able to prepare for Ryann’s arrival. Of course we all have people in our lives who are mothers that tell us what we need but even they forget some things. I also just loved the idea of documenting special memories. There’s so much we learn unexpectedly that tend to be so meaningful. Having this journal has definitely been one of those experiences for me.
Last thing! Having people you’re close with add “their side” of your pregnancy journal. You can let your significant other, older children, best friends, whomever be a part of it to share things you didn’t even notice during your pregnancy. (Like that time you were “so rude” to them but you really had no idea lol) And, if you’re nothing like me (haha) and actually update it weekly/monthly, maybe it will make your pregnancy go by quicker! (Disclaimer: It probably won’t lol) But just think about how helpful it would be to write down these moments you won’t get back or remember (because let’s face it, pregnancy brain is real!) to share with your little one. I cannot wait to tell Ryann about how she kept me up all night and made me crave (and eat) chicken after not eating meat for 8 months! Lol!
There’s a ton of journals to choose from but below is the Pearhead Journal I ordered from Amazon. Click the link to purchase!
